Cafebreria el Pendulo is a cafeteria in a bookstore. Stuff that dreams are made of! It’s the coolest bookstore chain in Mexico City. They are worth visiting if you love books, gorgeous interiors, or cool cafes. If you love all of the above, prepare to have your mind blown.

We chanced upon this bookstore by mere coincidence and now it’s on the top of my list of things to see in Mexico City. There’s a cafeteria inside, and a pendulum that keeps moving and creating geometric figures. Hence the name Cafe-breria el Pendulo. Here’s a picture of the famous pendulum.

We loved it so much that we visited it twice during our one-month stay in Mexico City. The Polanco branch that we visited, is the most popular. This is where you will see the beautiful design elements this bookshop is known for. It’s got a spiral stair case, balconies with green railings, and floor to ceiling books. It is a great place to grab a new book, meet for coffee or a drink, and even listen to live music.

I do not have much to say about the food because we just had beer but I have been gushing over the menu cards because they are designed after famous books.

You absolutely, a one hundred percent must visit Cafebreria el Pendulo if you are in Mexico City. It’s a feast for your senses and sensibilities.
